Is Big Corn Responsible for $100 a Barrel Oil?
Big Corn. Not the farmers, but the seed producers, and the guys who make the special pesticides and fertilizers that make corn, (and only corn) grow. Could they be behind the rise in oil prices? Or could they be colluding with Big Oil to drive the prices up?Several states, including Minnesota have 'Gone Green' by promoting bio-fuels as a replacement for imported oil. Ethanol plants have sprung up, special tax breaks have been passed, and communities worry about the trains and trucks passing through loaded with the volatile liquid. A by-product of this has been rising food prices.
So, in order to justify the public investment (in the form of tax breaks) in the bio-fuels chain, it would be damn convenient if oil and gas prices went up.
Now suppose your owned a company which had invested in the development of a special corn seed that grew a higher sugar producing corn and resulted in a larger bushel per acre harvest than anyone could ever have predicted. And the best part was, that every farmer who wanted to grow it would have to buy new seed from you every year, and to get the best results, had to buy special fertilizers and pesticides that could only be purchased from your (silent) partner. This would soon result in a corn glut which would drive prices down.
So create a new market for your product. If oil prices get high enough, the transformation of corn into fuel would become attractive financially. And in the hysteria to get the new fuel replacement, maybe your company could even slide in a few new rules that would let even more of your new, more special products slip through the testing and research phases to help quell the upward pressure on the food prices caused by all the farmland being switched to grow fuel. Your companies and allied industries would be in a position to give the stockholders one helluva payday.
Of course this is pure speculation on my part.

The Person I Want to Be President
The person I would most like to be president would:Support a ban on legislative discrimination. All American Citizens deserve equal protection under the Constitution of the United States of America. There can be no exceptions. Once one group of citizens is denied equal protection, every other group is a target.
Seek International assistance for resolving the issues in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a quagmire that is to large for the U.S. to clean up by itself. It may mean we get a little egg on our face, and have to eat a bunch of crow to clean it up, but it is the quickest and cleanest way to restore order.
Restore all of the protections afforded by the first 10 Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, also known as the Bill of Rights.
And most of all, to initiate a clear separation of Big Business and Government. The Government must make decisions which are best for the American Citizen, not just the Corporate Shareholder. This should result in a balanced budget, and help reduce/resolve the problems with illegal immigration.
Four requirements. Anyone who would match those 4 requirements would have the best interests of America, and the world in their heart. They would build toward a better future. Unfortunately, they would never get the media coverage needed to make the American Sheep who suckle on the teats of Fox News and CNN aware they exist.
What can we do?

Have you heard of this guy.
I am being somewhat lazy yet, but after reading the profiles of many of the 'lesser' candidates, I keep coming back to Kelcy Wilson. Just reading his Issue Statement kinda brings him to the top of my list as a possible alternative to the Dems and GOPs. The question is, how can a guy like this get any support from the mainstream media, or even from a lowly hunt & peck guy like me.Maybe you could bring him to someone else's attention.
